What a rubbish removal van can and cannot take
Almost everything, with a few exceptions set by law. The full list, plus what we do with the awkward items.
As a licensed waste carrier we can take most things a household or small business produces. A few items are restricted by law or need special handling. Here is the list.
We take
- Furniture, mattresses and carpets
- Fridges, freezers, washing machines and other appliances
- Garden waste, soil, turf and rubble
- Builders' waste: plasterboard, timber, tiles, bricks
- Boxes of general household clutter
- Office furniture, IT equipment and paperwork
- Sheds, fences and decking, dismantled or not
- Bikes, toys, books, clothes and the contents of a loft
We take with notice
- Paint, in sealed tins, in small quantities
- Fluorescent tubes and bulbs
- Gas bottles, empty
- Car tyres, up to four
- Plasterboard, which must be kept separate from other waste by law
We cannot take
- Asbestos in any form, including old Artex and garage roofs
- Clinical or medical waste
- Chemicals, oil, petrol, solvents and pesticides
- Fireworks, ammunition and anything explosive
- Food waste in bulk
Not sure about something? Send us a photo. Fridges and mattresses carry a small surcharge because they cost more to dispose of properly; everything else is priced by size or weight on our quote tool.
